To enter Dr. Wyss’s old machine workshop is to return to the past of Sainte-Croix. It is a unique opportunity to discover the work of a large part of the population of Sainte-Croix at the beginning of the last century.
In the course of his lifetime Jürg Wyss, a retired doctor, collected a number of different machines which had been used for the manufacture of music boxes in the last century. He was aware of the value of the industrial heritage of the region, and over the years he sought out numerous documents, tools and machines connected with the manufacture of music boxes. It was in this way that he reconstituted this authentic, old machine shop. Guided visits, presented with real enthusiasm, offer a unique opportunity to see these old machines, some of them over a hundred years old, at work. Visitors are given the unique opportunity of understanding the ingenious mechanism of a music box and its development over the course of more than a century.
