The tour of Lac de Joux is one of the most popular walks in the valley. Along a gently sloping route, walkers explore the Nordic-style landscapes, the relaxing shores of the lake, the varied ecosystems and the history of this cradle of fine watchmaking, all the while tasting the specialities of the region.
The three lakes of the Vallée de Joux, fine watchmaking and local products, including cheeses, are just some of the discoveries you can make along the way.
In the canton of Vaud, wine tourism is a common objective that brings together professionals in the tourism, restaurant, hotel, local produce and wine sectors. The Vallée de Joux is fully committed to these values and the region's restaurateurs are delighted to offer tastings of Vaud wines, in particular the vintages of the nearby La Côte AOC vineyards.
Whether it is along the 25 km of the complete tour of the Lac de Joux or along half of the route (from the Sentier to the Pont by the left bank or from the Pont to the Sentier by the right bank), the wine tour has something to appeal to hikers of all levels!
The walk starts at Le Sentier or Le Pont and goes around the lake in a clockwise direction. To shorten the route, it is possible to take the train, which runs every hour between these two villages.
Access by public transport via the regional train to Le Pont or Sentier-Orient.
The route is 24.6 km long and takes over five hours to complete.
The walk is accessible to people of average physical condition and to children who can walk alone.
Good shoes and a bottle of water are recommended.
To take a break...
The landscapes of the Vallée de Joux are ideal for a well-deserved break. However, please respect nature and private property; do not leave any other souvenirs of your visit than the photos you take...
The cafés and restaurants of the villages you pass through are also happy to welcome you for a drink or a meal.
