Walk | Pont Turrian - Cascade du Ramaclé
The starting point for this tour is in the centre of the village of Château-d'Oex, in front of the tourist office.
After following the gravel road in the heart of the forest, you will come across the imposing Turrian Bridge! Built in 1883, this suspension bridge is the oldest in French-speaking Switzerland and one of the last still existing.
Below you, discover the Sarine. It flows from the Saanenland before crossing the Pays-d'Enhaut and ending its course in Fribourg. Fishing enthusiasts are great adepts of its banks.
Continue to follow the way quietly through the various forest. Some birds will be happy to enliven your walk. Enjoy a snack at one of the many picnic spots.
Before returning to the old tarmac road to finish your tour, it is time to refresh your mind or your feet at the Ramaclé waterfall!

The Turrian Bridge
Setting out on foot from Château-d’Œx, descend towards the River Sarine and you’ll come to the famous Turrian Bridge. Built in 1883, the iron-built structure is one of the oldest and last remaining suspension bridges in Romandy (the western, French-speaking part of Switzerland).
Starting from the village square, following the Balloon Path will lead you straight to it. Once there, chance the crossing just as our ancestors did. Take a moment to savour the giddy prospects of the river below.
On the far side, turn left and walk through the forest following the lovely path along the riverbank. You’ll pass the magnificent Ramaclé waterfall before reaching the spectacular Gérignoz Gorge.

The Ramaclé waterfall
Two streams, that of the Rosette and the Ramaclé, meet and form this imposing waterfall that you can admire from the wooden bridge located in front of it.
The Ramaclé waterfall is located halfway between Château-d'Oex and Gérignoz in the forest along the Sarine river. In summer, access it via the Pont Turrian promenade. In winter, however, you will have to put on your snowshoes to admire this marvel of ice.
A large picnic table and at your disposal to take a break in this magnificent landscape.
