Unforgettable Locations for Children and Adult
All regions in the Lake Geneva Region offer a vast choice of locations that are particularly suited to children and all presented in this itinerary. Younger children will love the educational paths proposed by the House of Wheat and Bread in Echallens or by the Alimentarium in Vevey. Teenagers will never forget an excursion to the depths of the Bex Salt Mines or to the summit of the Alps to the Kuklos revolving restaurant. The young and not so young will enjoy a day of relaxation in one of the region’s spas.

Thermal Centre Yverdon-les-Bains
The Yverdon-les-Bains thermal spa is built around a sulphurous spring bursting from the earth at a temperature of 29 degrees. This water is reputed for its excellent beneficial effects on the joints, respiratory tracts and digestive system and also the muscles.
The spa has four pools, including one indoor pool, where the water temperature is kept at 34° in winter and 28° in summer. With jacuzzis, hammams, bubble baths, massage jets and activated water currents, there are many opportunities for relaxing and enjoying a deep sense of well-being.
The Grand Hotel des Bains, a superior 4-star hotel, and its magnificent rotunda dating back to 1896, offers luxury accommodation for visitors to the adjacent spa.
From the first century A.D. people came to enjoy the baths at Eburodunum, now Yverdon-les-Bains.

Bread and Wheat Museum
15 km from Lausanne, Echallens is the main town of the Gros-de-Vaud region, sometimes called the “breadbasket of Switzerland” due to its prolific grain fields. In the centre of this little town, the Maison du Blé et du Pain tells the story of this grain production.
At the entrance, there’s a bakery known far and wide serving the specialities of the region. Its open bakehouse, with a view of the bakers at work, is the start of the tour of the museum (closed for an indefinite period), which continues with a permanent collection telling the story of grain farming and bread-making. The friendly little mascot, “Ti’Grain”, accompanies the children on their visit.
For those who want to stay longer, there’s the temporary annual exhibition to see, a chance to participate in making a tresse [plaited loaf] (booking required) or set off on the Chemin des Blés marked trail.

Alimentarium, Food Museum
The Alimentarium Food Museum, on the shores of Lake Geneva, explores diverse aspects of human food and nutrition, from historical, scientific and cultural points of view.
The Alimentarium is open now with a new exciting exhibition in an entirely revamped exhibition space. As a museum which moves with the times, it invites visitors of all ages to take a close look at what and how we eat, an activity full of history and emotions. The Alimentarium proposes an educational, interactive journey blending discovery, experimentation and knowledge enhancement, through three new exhibition areas devoted to foodstuffs, production methods, culture and beliefs about food as well as to nutrition and the function of the human digestive system.
Since experimentation is an intrinsic part of food and eating, the Museum offers numerous daily cookery workshops: Visitors can make and taste local or international dishes. Whether you are a food lover, professional chef, child or grandparent, there will be something for every taste!
Not only are the Museum exhibition areas, restaurant and workshops being entirely renovated, the Alimentarium now also offers access to its knowledge base via its digital platform. A whole range of information is now at your fingertips. By making unique digital content available to both amateurs and professionals, children and grandparents, the Museum aims to become a reference on food and nutrition.

Le Kuklos - Revolving restaurant
More than a mountain restaurant, Le Kuklos is unique in French-speaking Switzerland. Whether you’re seated on the terrace or behind the huge glass walls, you can enjoy a 360 degree panorama in the space of an hour and a half. The imperceptible rotation of Le Kuklos affords diners views of the Alps, Lake Geneva, the Vaudois Riviera, the Jura mountain range and the Rhône valley.
Open every day from December to April and June to October, Le Kuklos is easy to get to via the cable car running from the centre of Leysin to the Berneuse. With hiking and skiing from the Berneuse, the animal park and the play areas at Le Kuklos, this is a very popular location with families.
A pioneer of ecotourism, Le Kuklos is the starting point of the renewable energies trail and its these solar panels that help the restaurant to revolve. For après-ski and mountain-top events, Bar 2048 (the altitude of the Berneuse) welcomes guests in a festive atmosphere on its terrace with a removal roof.

Alp Salt Mines
The Bex Salt Mines are a vast labyrinth of galleries, shafts, stairs and halls stretching over more than 50 km. A tour of this fascinating underground world allows visitors to discover the most spectacular and characteristic elements of the various salt extraction techniques used in the Alps since 1684. After a film presentation, the miners’ train takes visitors to the heart of the salty mountain.
On the day of Sainte Barbe, the miners' patron saint, which is celebrated on December 5, a TrekkMines invites visitors to explore this labyrinth.
An exceptional journey to the land of white gold, which allows visitors to understand the important role salt has played as a source of income since Antiquity.
