The Winegrowers Festival is a unique event celebrating vineyard workers held in an arena in front of an audience of thousands
It only takes place once a generation in Vevey, between Lake Geneva and the Alps, and has been organised by the Brotherhood of Winegrowers since the 18th century. A real celebration of memory and identity, it has been included on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity since 1 December 2016. So it’s the first living tradition in Switzerland to have benefited from UNESCO recognition. The last festival, which took place in 1999, featured 5,200 actors and performers during fifteen shows, each of which attracted 16,000 spectators. Tickets are on sale since 17 September. There will be twenty shows taking place between 18 July and 11 August 2019, 10 during the day and 10 in the evening, so over 400,000 tickets are on sale. Ticket prices between CHF 79.- and CHF 299.-.
