Orbe la romaine, the energy of a rich land
Culture, wine tourism and local products are on the agenda in the Romanesque mediaeval town of Orbe near Yverdon-les-Bains.
Situated at a crossroads, the town of Orbe suffered repeated invasions and the fortified town bears their impressive architectural imprint. The spectacular panoramic site of Boscéaz includes a recently discovered set of Roman mosaics, unique in Switzerland, giving visitors a hint of the imposing villa they adorned, through an interactive tour.
Near Yverdon-les-Bains, the mediaeval town offers many walks and guided tours to the Tour Ronde or the famous Gorges de l’Orbe.
A young generation of dedicated winemakers are working successfully to gain recognition for the appellation Vins des Côtes de l’Orbe AOC. Wine tourism enthusiasts can enjoy wine tastings, walks through the vines or bike rides through the vineyards.
