Music festivals, sports events and cultural spectacles: there’s always cause for celebration in the Lake Geneva Region!
Whether it’s opera, singing or jazz, this region has music in its veins. With the Montreux Jazz Festival and Paléo Festival in Nyon topping the bill, the summer sees a whole series of musical events. The Cully Jazz Festival kicks things off in the spring, opening its wine cellars to jazz virtuosos, while the magnificent roman amphitheatre in Avenches comes alive for Rock Oz’Arènes, then the Avenches Tattoo, a unique event in French-speaking Switzerland.
Seat of the IOC and many sporting organisations, the region hosts many prestigious athletic events, such as Athletissima in Lausanne, or winter sports competitions in the alpine resorts. For something different, Château-d’Oex welcomes hundreds of hot air balloons in January for the Festival International de Ballons.
Whether it’s dancing in Lausanne with the Béjart Ballet, nature in Morges with the Tulip Festival or magic with Montreux Christmas, there’s a cause for celebration for everyone here.
