Leave your car at home and take the train to Château-d’Œx
The line is celebrating its 40th birthday this year. A small train with big ambitions, the Montreux-Oberland-Bernois (MOB) travels between Montreux and Château-d’Œx each day. Why not try it? You can leave the car at home and enjoy a relaxing ride to your destination. Lasting around an hour and ten minutes, it is an ideal trip for families and friends. As the train climbs up you get a magical view over Lake Geneva and the surrounding mountains, it is one of the most spectacular views in the Alps. On the other side of the mountain the landscape gives way to magnificent rolling green pastures. On the way to Château-d'Œx, let yourself be lulled by the rocking of the train, and don’t forget to admire the rich architectural heritage of listed buildings, historic monuments beautiful wooden chalets along the way.
Traditional train and panoramic train
You can choose between two different types of train to make you journey even better: the Panoramic GoldenPass and the Classic GoldenPass. Very modern and comfortable, the Panoramic GoldenPass was the first panoramic train in Europe. With its semi-glass roof, it allows you immerse yourself in the natural surroundings and become one with the landscape. Unique in Switzerland, the train also has a VIP area at the front of the train for an even more breath-taking experience. Launched a few years ago, the GoldenPass Classic will seduce even the most nostalgic among you. With retro-style interiors and coachwork, it will transport you back in time to the splendour of years gone by, in the purest tradition of trains such as the Orient Express. Both trains have restaurant cars.
