With over 800 participants, the Chaplin race, departing from Corsier-sur-Vevey, offers you the opportunity of setting foot in the famous Manoir de Ban estate where Charlie Chaplin, one of the greatest legends of cinema, lived for a quarter of a century.
Each year the Chaplin race, the only free race event in Switzerland, pays homage to this humanist and cinematic legend who made generations of cinema lovers laugh and cry in equal amounts. The various race categories each represent a cinematic work, allowing all participants to identify themselves with their favourite films or characters.
There is plenty of theatrical and musical entertainment on hand, both at the start and end of the race as well as at the refreshment stops, to the great pleasure of spectators and competitors alike. The "Palme d'or", a 150 m race with runners wearing flippers (called palmes in French) on their feet, is held on a course set with obstacles and is certain to have onlookers roaring with laughter.
