Vallamand-Dessus and Vallamand-Dessous already existed in the Middle Ages, certainly as attached hamlets to the municipality of Cudrefin. The locality flourished during the 17th Century, the period when the independence from Cudrefin began.
Today, Vallamand is a pleasant locality for its residents and its visitors, who often go to the Recreational Harbour that was opened in 1998. Vallamand is known as the place of origin of Ernest Failloubaz, the first Swiss aeroplane pilot. The man has marked the aviation history of the country, just like René Grandjean, constructor of aeroplanes from the neighbouring municipality of Bellerive.
