A challenging hike from the Javerne mountain pasture to the Tourche hut in the Plans-sur-Bex area.
This walk starts just before a no-trespassing sign on the Javerne road. There is a car park on your left.
After a few hundred meters on the road, you reach the Javerne chalets. Follow the signs for the Javerne cross and the Tourche hut (white-red-white itinerary).
The next part of the route takes you along a dirt and stone path that leads off to the right towards the ridges. It's a steep climb, but the scenery is well worth the effort. From the Javerne cross, you can admire a 360° panorama of the Rhône valley as far as Lake Geneva, the Dents du Midi, the Dents de Morcles, Mont Blanc and many other surrounding peaks.
You can already see the Tourche hut in the distance, where you can stop for a drink or a bite to eat.
Then retrace your steps before following the path down to your right, which takes you through the valley to the Javerne mountain pasture. You may come across a few sheep or donkeys spending the summer months in this unique setting.
