The public will first be invited to discover the setting of the mcb-a on 6 and 7 April 2019 during an open day of the building, before the official opening scheduled for October 2019.
The first exhibition of the Cantonal Museum of Fine Arts in the new premises of Platform 10 is entitled "ATLAS - Mapping the Donation". From 2020 the first temporary exhibition "À fleur de peau. Vienna 1900, from Klimt to Schiele and Kokoschka" will value the contribution of the Viennese scene to the birth of modern art.
Thanks to the different spaces available, the programming of the mcb-a will be very diverse. It will include nine temporary exhibitions that will take place each year as well as masterpieces of modern, ancient and contemporary art that will be permanently visible and accessible free of charge in the rooms dedicated to the permanent collection.
The platform 10 project started in 2016. This art district will enable the city of Lausanne to welcome and promote all the richness its museums offer by bringing together the Cantonal Museum of Fine Arts (mcb-a), the Musée de l'Elysée and the Musée Cantonal des Beaux-Arts (mudac).
The mcb-a is the first to move to the new arts district. The Musée de l'Elysée and the mudac will take possession of their new building in the spring of 2021 and open their doors the following autumn.
