Top activities around Vaudois wine and terroir

The multitude of varied activities around the wine and terroir of the canton of Vaud delights gourmets, be they connoisseurs or amateurs.

Recognised for the quality of its wines with a controlled designation of origin (AOC), the canton of Vaud offers great wine-tourism activities that are suitable for the whole family. The opportunities to learn more about this county are legion and ideal for all ages. In addition, each terroir gives you the impression of travelling through Swiss history. This is the case during a visit to the Museum of Vines, Wines and Labels in Aigle and the mythical Castle of ChillonTM, made famous by one of Lord Byron’s works. This is also where you can taste a glass of Vaudois wine in a medieval setting.

Over the centuries, regional winemakers have transformed the Vaudois landscapes and have been taking good care of the six wine regions. Now visitors can enjoy the result, which is a stunning change of scenery, especially by train! The La Côte vineyards and the terraces of Lavaux, a UNESCO World Heritage site, appear in all their splendour during theme circuits. Among other activities around Vaudois wine, the gastronomic cruises on Lake Geneva and the wine tours remind you that beyond the fabulous panorama, there is know-how and rituals, in short, an ancient and fascinating culture that also reveals itself on local market days, be they held in the city of Lausanne or elsewhere in the canton of Vaud. These excursions are among gourmets’ favourites.
