A quintessential museum in Lausanne's cultural landscape, the Collection de l'Art Brut captivates and fascinates with every visit. Housed in an elegant old manor house, the collection reveals a unique artistic universe, created outside the traditional circuits. Here, there is no academic training or aesthetic conventions: the works on display are the work of passionate self-taught artists, guided by a raw, intimate and often stirring creativity. It's a fascinating insight into the authenticity of human expression, and a must-see.
Located at the Château de Beaulieu in the heart of Lausanne, the Collection de l'Art Brut is a unique museum in Switzerland. Founded by the French artist Jean Dubuffet, it brings together works by self-taught artists who were not part of traditional artistic circuits and who often lived in internments, prisons or in social isolation. The 18th-century château once belonged to the Mingard family and has welcomed prestigious guests such as Jacques Necker and Jules Michelet. As unusual as its collections, the château invites visitors to rethink their relationship with art through permanent and temporary exhibitions. The Collection de l’Art Brut regularly participates in cultural events and offers free admission on the first Saturday of the month.
