A unique musical competition without constraints, the Montreux Choral Festival makes it a point of honour to give all types of choirs a chance, allowing them the freedom to select the programmes they prefer.
This year, in 2022, due to the health situation and the difficulty for the choirs to travel, the competition is cancelled. It will be replaced by a unique concert on Sunday, May 1, 2022, where Mozart's Requiem will be performed in a new version at the Stravinski Auditorium (Montreux).
While the pleasure of singing in its pure form remains the main objective of the event, the organising committee nevertheless imposes one specific work each year to be performed by those groups wishing to be evaluated in the context of an official contest. An international jury comprising personalities from the music world is responsible for deciding between the best performances and for awarding the highly coveted Jury's Prize. Traditionally held at the beginning of the month of April, the primary objective of this festival is to bring together choral groups from a broad range of countries, in friendly competition, for the greatest pleasure of lovers of singing.
